STEMPILOT at John Dewey High School’s 2025 Career Fair: Inspiring the Next Generation of Innovators

STEMPILOT was proud to be part of John Dewey High School’s 2025 Career Fair, an event dedicated to helping students explore career opportunities and gain insight into various industries. Hosted on the school’s expansive and well-developed Brooklyn campus, the fair brought together professionals from diverse fields, giving students direct access to career guidance, hands-on experiences, and expert advice.

From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by Principal Nancy Woods and a group of outstanding upperclassmen who served as liaisons throughout the day. Their professionalism and enthusiasm showcased the incredible leadership and talent being cultivated at John Dewey High School. As they guided us through the campus, we saw firsthand how the school is fostering a forward-thinking learning environment that prepares students for real-world success.

During our visit, we had the exciting opportunity to engage with students in a computer engineering class, where we demonstrated how aviation and flight simulation connect to over 90% of STEM skills used in modern careers. Through interactive discussions, we highlighted how aviation training enhances problem-solving, math, physics, and coding skills—key components of many high-demand industries. Whether programming a drone or learning the principles of flight simulation, students saw firsthand how hands-on learning can translate into exciting career paths in aerospace, engineering, and beyond.

Beyond the career fair, we were honored to be hosted by JDHS Business Academy students for a special Valentine’s Day Lunch in their very own in-school restaurant. It was a fantastic experience seeing their hospitality, culinary, and business skills in action. As a bonus, we also received some awesome t-shirt swag from their student-run printing studio, further showcasing the diverse range of hands-on learning opportunities available at John Dewey High School.

Career fairs like this are essential in broadening students’ horizons and helping them discover passions they may not have previously considered. We were thrilled to contribute to this effort, showing students that STEM education isn’t just about textbooks—it’s about applying knowledge in dynamic, real-world ways.

STEMPILOT is committed to supporting schools in creating immersive learning experiences that prepare students for the future. Events like the John Dewey High School Career Fair reinforce our mission to equip students with the skills and confidence to pursue STEM careers.

A huge thank you to Principal Woods, the dedicated faculty, the JDHS Business Academy students, and the exceptional upperclassmen who made this event such a success. We look forward to continuing to inspire the next generation of innovators, one flight at a time!
